(Jessica telling the family about her mission call.)An update about Sis. Reichner
She was set apart on Sunday night at the stake presidents house. Super fun and great spiritual experience. I cried like a baby. On Monday we drove her 7 hours to Billings and met at my old mission home. President and Sister Gardner are brand new from St. George Utah. He know the Rose's and followed Brocks basketball career. One of the AP missionaries was trained in our ward in Bigfork. So it was a very comfortable and surreal situation. They had dinner for us and then Pres Gardner gets a call on his cell phone from Sis. Lingmann saying she is on her way to pick up the new sister and that she can't stay long because they have a teaching appointment in 20 mins.!! So a few mins later this cute little petite missionary walks into the house and Sis. Reichner goes right up to her and gives her a big hug and says "I am ready to go". We talked for a few minutes and immediately realized how sharp this gal is. Super dynamic and a go getter. She is from Oregon City Oregon and has been out for 1 year. She has also trained several sisters and was so happy to have a newbie.
They welcomed Sis Reichner with open arms. Jill made an attempt to say that we were in their debt for taking Jess so quickly, but the President shot back that Jess was an answer to prayers because they had just sent a sister home early. They would have had to close an area and create a threesome for an extended period of time, until they received another sister from Salt Lake!
I then followed Sis. Reichner out to our car and she grabbed her scripture bag and said "well, I am in the Lords hand now." I said what do you think about your companion? She said, She is awesome! We then gathered around Sister Lingmann and Sister Reichner and said our quick goodbye and then watched them drive away.
Jill & I visited with the Gardners for a few mins afterwards and then we left. Next day we went to the Billings Mt. Temple, where Jess will be getting her endowments in Sept (after school starts). And then we drove home.
This process for Jess will be 3 months. Pres Gardner assured us that there wouldn't be any lag time from the time she is done with the three months until the permanent mission starts. She will either just finish her mission in Montana/Wyoming or she will get another call elsewhere.
Thank you so much for all your prayers. She already feels them and is doing great. Its wonderful to have another Reichner missionary in the field.
